hempact's mission

Our mission is to provide eco-friendly products to reduce agricultural waste, promote sustainability, and educate others about women’s hygiene.

Creating an impact: How UAlberta students are changing the way we think about waste

Consider that the average woman menstruates for 38 years —during which 35 pounds of plastic waste is created through the use of existing menstrual products. Meanwhile, in rural Alberta, over 20,000 acres of hemp parts are considered agricultural waste. Majority of these waste ends up in landfills.

So how can we addressing the problem of accumulating waste?

At Hempact, we seek to provide a creative solution to the ever-growing waste problem. By introducing biodegradable sanitary products made primarily with hemp fiber, we create value for our local suppliers and consumers. This eco-friendly and non-toxic solution re-purposes “hemp waste” while reducing our burden on the environment.

Responsible consumption & production

Sustainable consumption and production is about promoting resource and energy efficiency, sustainable infrastructure, and providing access to basic services, green and decent jobs and a better quality of life for all. Its implementation helps to achieve overall development plans, reduce future economic, environmental and social costs, strengthen economic competitiveness and reduce poverty.

Hempact aims to promote sustainable consumption and production by re-purposing agricultural waste into eco-friendly sanitary pads.

life on land

Deforestation and desertification – caused by human activities and climate change – pose major challenges to sustainable development and have affected the lives and livelihoods of millions of people in the fight against poverty. Efforts are being made to manage forests and combat desertification.

Hempact aims to utilize alternative sources of material instead of common sources of material that lead to deforestation and desertification.
